The Pond
During my recent huddle with Dr. Carol Kauffman PhD PCC and other Fellows of Institute of Coaching, McLean/Harvard Medical School, we observed a growing feeling of "depletion" amongst the leaders we serve and the teams they lead. This is hardly surprising given the trifecta of public health, economic and social stress that we are facing. Even the pond that irrigates our vegetable garden was "depleted". We have had hardly any rain in the last month. The pond was not getting replenished by its usual source (rain). I needed to find an alternative source to counter the depletion. As it happened, I found a spring elsewhere on our property. So I siphoned water from the spring to feed the drying pond. I was able to "replete" the depleting pond and the vegetable garden is flourishing again. Remember: the team you lead cannot grow if you are depleted. May you find your spring and replete yourself when your usual source of replenishments are also drying up. Find the source that brings you back to a place of comfort and strength - for some of us it is a walk with the dog, some of us it is the joy of making pasta when we see the faces we feed light up, for others it is taking a moment to be silent and rest. Your spring may be closer than you think.
